You Are Here: Elementary Focus Online

elem_focuscircleThe Focus Series for Elementary is a collection of model inquiry units and student tools, designed to fit directly with the QEP.  The Focus materials merge cross-curricular competencies, broad areas of learning and subject competencies and content. As such, they can serve as useful models for teachers. Focus was originally published in print form. Look for the complete series online in 2011.

What is it?

Focus is made up of inquiry units for each cycle of elementary school, all stemming from the Broad Areas of Learning. These inquiry units are driven by questions that in turn drive student learning.

Practical student tools make inquiry learning manageable by focusing on the Cross-Curricular Competencies, also called life skills. Click on the images in the right-hand column to see the tools for Cycles One, Two or Three. Use the graphic organizers from any cycle, if they suit your needs!

collab3 Who is it for?

A teacher can use the series in her classroom, but cycle and school teams can also make use of the series when planning out projects for the school year. Teachers can also make use of individual tools on an as-needed basis.
