Reforming Our Vision of English Language Arts:
Classroom Stories from Elementary and Middle School
Project Cover

This series of articles was written by teachers from the Riverside School Board. At the time of writing these ten teachers were working with students from Kindergarten to the end of Secondary Cycle One. They each carried out an individual classroom project but formed a study group to share, dialogue and reflect on their professional practice. Their collaboration and willingness to take time to read, write and reflect with members of the group have made it possible for them to share their stories. The narratives they have produced model the true nature of Québec's English Language Arts program - a program that is based on the social function and purpose of language and provides students with opportunities to experience the power of language. Each project deals with fundamental principles of English Language Arts and can be adapted to any cycle.
