learn_e2  Projects for Elementary Cycle Two

Iroquois Beadwork : Cultural Portraits of the Past and Present (Cycle 2 Integrated Language Arts and Social Science) - This project was developed by a team of educators developed this project in partnership with the McCord Museum and the Kanien'kehaka Raotitiohkwa Cultural Centre. The project centres on the photographs and the images of beaded objects, which are a combination of old and new, and show that the art of beadwork not only has a long history but is still very much alive today. It consists of a number of learning scenarios that teachers can use in their classrooms but is not a step by step lesson plan.

KCTools - KidsConnect's research toolbox for students. Find help with phases of the research process and tools to make it work. An initiative of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).

Teacher CyberGuide - The Very Hungry Caterpillar  This is a supplemental unit that was developed as part of the Schools of California Online Resources for Educators (SCORE) Project. As well as a culminating classroom project, this unit consists of three Internet activities in which students explore three key questions about Eric Carle and his story creations.

Treasures @ Sea - Exploring the ocean through literature. This Web resource about oceans is written to be adaptable to the teacher's needs. It can be used as a complete unit, as a module for inclusion in a larger study or each component can be used independently. The activities are sorted by the book they compliment but could be used with any unit on the ocean. A variety of activities offer something for almost every K-12 classroom.
