This is a series of articles written in narrative form by ten
teachers working with students from Kindergarten to Secondary Cycle One. Each project that is
described deals with fundamentals of the English Language Arts program and can be adapted to any
cycle.
Storysacks Canada supports literacy in families. (Elem. Cycles 1, 2 and 3)
The project investigates innovative and cost-effective ways of
encouraging the love of reading and the learning of any subject matter using a storysack approach
as a spring board and the Internet as a sharing tool. A Storysack includes a good children's book
and lots of activities to bring reading to life. It is a fun way for children and adults to read
together. Storysacks are not bought from stores; they are made by the community.

This Web resource about oceans is written to be adaptable to the
teacher's needs. It can be used as a complete unit, as a module for inclusion in a larger study or
each component can be used independently. The activities are sorted by the book they compliment but
could be used with any unit on the ocean. A variety of activities offer something for almost every
cycle.
