Perseverance and information and communication technologies
Physical education and religious instruction works together!
PERSEVERANCE
How many times do we ask our students to be persevere in any task they do?
Do they really know the virtues of perseverance?
We are proposing this project which will allow students to take conscience of the importance of this aptitude.
This page is translated from the original French RECITDP page here

As part of the course of moral or religious instruction, the students will reflect on the meaning of perseverance. To do so, they will establish links between the life experiences of characters found in various catholic or non-catholic texts. Based on these readings, the students will create an audio recording or an audio/photo portfolio on the concept of perseverance.
Similarly in physical education, students will select a skill or activity of their choice that they would like to take up as a challenge. Students are encouraged to try a new activity which they have never done before or that they have difficulty with. They are now faced to a new challenge, another way of viewing and understanding perseverance. Each student will be filmed at the beginning of their new experience with the activity of their choice. Later, each student will use a video sequence to explain their challenge and the methods they plan to use to be successful at this new activity. Thereafter, at the end of the project, the execution is again filmed in order for the students to comment and observe their progress and the positive impact of perseverance.
The class will then perform a show in the gymnasium where they will demonstrate the meaning of perseverance. In teams, the students can present the various steps to their success: by the use of their audio recording or their audio/photo portfolio on the concept of perseverance, with the use of video excerpts explaining their challenge and the methods they used to be successful, all this done in a live presentation using various methods. Another way can be of creating a DVD.
