Cycle: Elementary: Cycle 2 and 3
Broad areas of learning: To be determined according to context.
Cross-Curricular Competencies: Uses information and communication technologies
Subject : Physical Education and Health.
Competency: Performs movement skills in different physical activity settings.
Description:
This project allows students to view themselves in a static position (candle, bridge…) as is realized in gymnastics. One student will take a picture of another student performing the static movement. The performer will be able to view the picture and decide which aspects of the performance should be changed and which should be kept in order to improve. The student will be able to compare his performance with other students or an established model, using posters and photos of what the performance should look like.
How to realize this project:
1- First have the students practice the movements.
2- Make accessible the devices to take pictures.
3- Take a picture of a student performing the static position.
4- Allow the student to view the performance.
5- Allow the student to comment on the performance.
Equipment needed:
- Digital camera or
- Pocket PC (Palm)
Added value:
- The students become more familiar with using various technologies
- The students can see themselves in action, which can allow for adjustments to their performance.
- The students can discuss the aspects of their performance that they want to keep or improve on.
