Title: Creating a DVD to be used as a teaching tool.

Competency: Performs movement skills in different physical activity settings.
Description:
The purpose of this project is to create a DVD, which will contain many sport related skills. In the gymnasium, students will participate in the demonstration of the movements, the filming and the editing of this useful DVD. This important audiovisual tool will create an important bank of movements that can easily be available to students. This step by step video accessible with the use of a TV and DVD player in the gymnasium will help students understand how to perform the skill and how to achieve mastery.
How to realize this project:
1- Select the type of activity that needs to be learned, (juggling, running, badminton clear…)
2- Ask the students to practice the movement/skill.
3- Select a few students that can master the skill and who would like to perform it in front of the camera.
4- Select few students that will explain the movements by using cues and tips on how to successfully perform the skill.
5- Select a group of students who will be in charge of filming one student’s action while another student can explain the movement step by step using various cues.
6- Another group of students can be in charge of editing the images to create a short film.
7- Creation of the DVD with various menus.
8- Use the DVD in the gymnasium to help students with various skills.
Equipment needed:
- Computer or laptop
- Video camera
- Video editing program
- Blank DVD, TV and DVD player.
Benefits:
- Students will be proud to be filmed.
- Students will be motivated to successfully perform their skill in order to be selected to demonstrate the movement.
- Students will learn how to use the video camera.
- Students will learn how to use a video editing program.
- Students will learn how to express themselves in front of the video camera.
