The debating process
Besides hints about debating, the site has downloadable templates and scripts for students to chair, research, think, and speak.
We have created debating frames to help students research and outline their arguments, evidence, quotes, and sources for and against a motion. Once their research has been completed, students need to put their information to use, to further develop their ideas and finally, to construct their speeches. These frameworks are available on the Preparation page of the student section of the site.
Chairperson's scripts and a guide to listening critically during a debate can be found on the During the debate page of the student section.
See the Debating Topics on this site for a sampling debates prepared by students.
