Seymour Tyler

Seymour Tyler

Born in St. John, N.B., on February 22, 1897, Mr. Tyler left school to join the Canadian Expeditionary Force of W.W.I. He saw action at various points and was wounded at Vimy Ridge. Between the world wars he joined the York Regiment and was a farmer on the outskirts of Fredericton. He volunteered for the Canadian Army when W.W. II broke out and was posted overseas as early as December 17, 1939.

This highly decorated soldier sounded the Royal Salute when King George VI came to inspect the First Canadian Division. His performance and medals attracted the King and Queen, who exchanged a few words with him on that occasion. He served as President of the Carleton and York Veterans' Association.
