| Lessons in History | Classification Activities |
| These review lessons were designed to support the teaching and learning of the
7 Modules, Units and Topics of The History of Quebec and Canada course.
The lessons were created and developed by Michael Carley and Walter Baslyk, Social Studies consultants at the Lester B. Pearson School Board. They were assisted in their efforts by Len Harney, Social Studies consultant at the English Montreal School Board and by teachers from the Lester B. Pearson School Board and the English Montreal School Board through the Professional Development & Innovations Grants program of the MEQ. They included Brian Hopper, Norm Horner and Martin Legault of the Lester B. Pearson School Board and Demetrios Giannacopoulos, Joseph Hackett and Wanda Jaslinska of the English Montreal School Board. |
A series of ready to print classification activities for Modules 1
to 7, centered around the political, social, and economic factors of each
module. Activities on the chronology of each module are also provided. Answer
guides are available for all seven modules, English and French versions,and are found on the last
page of each module.

| Activities tied to History of Quebec and Canada 414, Module 7 . Case studies, Mock Trial and Questionnaire, with copies of both Charters included. | This interactive software has been prepared for students enrolled in the History of Quebec and Canada course. It allows them to test themselves on their knowledge of the program and improve their performance by following a Tutorial with learning prompts. Very popular, consists of 10 separate exams with multiple choice and structured response questions, scoring and prompts. |

Some Missing Pages: The Black Community in the History of
Québec and Canada |

| Blacks have continued to make a positive impact on Canadian
society though largely missing from popular texts and public documents. This document focuses on
their contribution. The material is directly compatible with the History of Québec and Canada
program (History 414). Many of the items included can also serve as valuable content in a variety
of subject areas and grade levels.

An earlier version of the Tutorial, it consists of 250 multiple
choice questions. The questions are categorized by Module and Unit. Graphics (maps and charts) are
in separate files divided by Module, to be downloaded and printed for your students . Good for
older computers.
PURPOSE: To allow students to work on a computer individually or in small groups, in order to practice with Describe, Analyze and Synthesize type of Multiple Choice Questions. USE: In a learning situation with rationales provided by the computer or in an testing situation with scoring, review and re-testing provided. |

| One of the major aims of this activity booklet is to
assist teachers in using
Some Missing Pages -The History of the Black Community in Quebec and Canada
which is now available in Quebec schools and on the Internet.
Some Missing Pages is a document of primary and secondary source materials which focusses on Black contributions to Canadian History. The document was released in 1996 by the Quebec Ministry of Education in partnership with the Provincial Association of Social Studies Teachers and the Quebec Board of Black Educators. This activity booklet contains excerpts and precise summaries from Some Missing Pages . It also has action projects and easy-to-use assignments which will not only assist teachers but which are also designed to perk the users' curiosity and enthusiasm which should act as a springboard to encourage them to explore and learn more. In addition, the booklet affords teachers supplemental information and readily available answers to some of the assignments given. | Summative and Synthesis Questions | |
| A series of ready to print tests which include 20 Summative and 10
Synthesis type questions for each of the seven Modules of the History of Quebec and Canada program.
Answer keys are now available for each of the tests, English and French versions, and are found on
the last page of each test.

Annotated links for History of Quebec and Canada 414 that are divided by Module, Unit, and Topic. Great for Student Projects. This is an ongoing project, email us if you have sites that match the topics. |
A cooperative structure in which teammates study together, then individually
apply their learning in a
Macintosh Hypercard cooperative game. Mixed ability groups are formed to study or
review learning from previous teaching. Then, equal ability groups move to
Tournament Teams to compete in a game based on the learning. Individual
self-scoring exams are now available for Modules 1 to 7. Each exam consists of
forty multiple choice questions with a
built-in counter to track your progress.

| Timesquares (History 414) | |
|
Macintosh Hypercard Jeopardy style game board. Students work individually
and compete with other students or with their former performances to better their score. Each
question answered leads to a tutorial. The current version contains Game 1, which is based on
Module 5, as well as a blank shell which will allow teachers or students to create their own
versions of Timesquares.
