1) Work-Oriented Path Program - concerns and reflections
-Provincial promotion of the programs to the business community
-Adapting subject areas to the multi-leveled student

2) Issues to tackle within your evolving role -summary notes from the sub-groups
How could you collaborate with your team to support students in their choices?
-At the board level: Need to clarify roles and responsibilities regarding the sharing of information and communication needs to improve from the top to frontline
-Need to work toward greater consistency across the board.
-Pedagogicalconsultants need to have more opportunities to have direct contact with complementary services professionals, administrators and teachers.
-At the school level: Each school has to find its own pace.
-Need to create a permanent forum specific to pathways, GOAL, pedagogical renewal and community partnerships.
How can I best accomodate this evolving role and how do I feel about it?
-Hire more guidance counsellors
-Sensitize administrators to GOAL in their respective strategic plan
-Find new ways to work with teachers, students and parents regarding course and path choices and students' learning styles versus grades
-Schedule time for teamwork
How can you play a more active role within your school team?
-Gather and share GOAL initiatives from school's teachers and beyond
-Set up a GOAL committee (including administrators, guidance counsellors, teachers and peer coaches)
-Create time, opportunities for staff development, such as GOAL
-Coordination amongst schools
-GOAL leadership
-Sensitize parents
-Identify and publicize GOAL activities and best practices
What resources or documentation need to be developed?
-Access to teachers and training
-School-based GOAL teams
-Breakdown departmental barriers
-Promote sample lesson plans for POP teachers
-Create board-wide forms for job shadowing opportunities, Student for a day, Work-Study Programs,etc.
-Identify, list and post examples of how to integrate
GOAL in every subject area and plan for the implementation of GOAL across all cycles
in a way which is developmentally
appropriate and innovative.
What activities or initiatives can I be involved with?
-Entrepreneurship initiatives
-Linking GOAL practices in the classroom to personal awareness
-Continue the initiatives started in POP in Grades 10 and 11
-Encourage self-reflection across the curriculum
-Modelling through equal participant and helping students and parents understand changes to the curriculum (ex. math and science)
-Developing a GOAL idealogy into various courses & activities - GOAL resources to develop for the school
-Facilitate, collaborate and form partnershiops between and within departmentsto improve and enhance GOAL

-Being involved as a team
