Presentations on GOAL

Members of the GOAL Networking Committee have been promoting GOAL to many audiences within their school boards such as Commissioners, Directors, Administrators, Guidance Counsellors, Teachers, parent groups, etc.  The presentations were well received and provided the audiences with an overview of the GOAL.  One of the tools we used was The Guidance-Oriented Approach to Learning Power Point presentation.

This Powerpoint presentation is available for use to promote GOAL in your schools or school board.

Please feel free to download a copy for your presentations and adapt it as needed.

  • NEW! GOAL Jeopardy Game - by Mark Sutherland, CQSB and Sandra Salesas, GOAL Network
Here is a more dynamic type of presentation whereby school personnel are asked questions about GOAL and the QEP through a jeopardy game format. This is an excellent presentation to begin a discussion about GOAL; its definition, strategies and related examples. For this game-like presentation on the basics of GOAL, Mark Sutherland from Central Quebec School Board, developed a game of answers and questions with Sandra Salesas, Provincial GOAL Coordinator. To start the game, participants have to select one of the four categories pertaining to GOAL.  For each correct answer, the participant accumulates points according to each box.  Two teams should be created to ensure that all the answers and questions are explored.
  • NEW! Here is an updated presentation on GOAL and its connections to the QEP and to Complementary Educational Services' policies. Please note that there are two parameters associated with the definition of GOAL.  According to the MELS, school teams engaged in GOAL accompany students in the development of their identity and in their learning path. This presentation was given last October 21st for the First Nations Education Council.
  • Mr. Laurent Matte, President of the Ordre des conseillers et conseilleres d'orientation et des psychoeducateurs et psychoeducatrices du Quebec (OCCOPPQ) was interviewed by Sandra Salesas regarding role of guidance counsellors in our high schools.  Counsellors are encouraged to engage in school teams, to accompany teachers in GOAL-driven projects, to support staff, parents and students in preparation of the paths.
