The 'Indices de Défavorisation' (Index of Disadvantage)

This document is published annually. The figure that is most relevant to NANS schools is the IMSE (Indice de milieu socio-économique). The level of socio-economic disadvantage ranges from 1 (more advantaged) to 10 (extreme disadvantage). It is calculated by the level of the mother's scholarity (2/3 of the weighting) and the unemployment level of the previous year (1/3 of the weighting).

The objective of the Evidence-Based Practice Project is to develop:

• A common set of indicators to assess school perseverance and school success
• Tools for data collection and data mining
• Data kits for schools and schools boards
• Exemplary practices with regards to the integration of data into educational projects and success plans.
