The General Context (only for software such as First Class)
The read receipt feature allows the author of a message to find out when the recipient opened the message and therefore reveals information about the recipient's schedule. Moreover, when a message addressed to a mailing list includes a read receipt, it becomes possible to know which members of this list agree to return the read receipt.
Some software makes it possible to track messages even more precisely. For example, it is possible to find out who each recipient is and when each message was read.
Recipients of messages with read receipts should keep in mind that by confirming reception, they are supplying information on the time at which they read the message.
The Issues
When read receipts are used, tracking messages has the following characteristics:
Identification of the User's E-mail Address | Identification of the Time at Which the Message Was Read
