What is a chat room?
Chat rooms enable users to communicate in real time with other users who are connected at the same time on the same server. Participants each have a window where they write a text to allow them to communicate with other members of the group.
Characteristics
A user who joins a chat room does not necessarily know the identity of the participants in the group. Users must be informed that they can accept or refuse to participate. If they participate, they agree to communicate with a group of people whose identity they do not necessarily know.
For educational purposes, teachers can sometimes set up private chat rooms and set up a meeting time with another class. These chat rooms are not accessible to the general public.
