Welcome to the "School Administrators’ Support Team" Initiative |
|
ALDI is partnership of: The IESMC (Inclusive Education Services Management Committee) and MELS, met and a strong need was expressed for teacher training and networking among resource teachers and their colleagues in schools. There was also a need to develop a framework for training that would address the particular needs of each board. The ALDI Initiative has consulted with the ten boards to develop a network with Liaison Teams and oversee the creation and development of a bank of resources. These teams will work with the project coordinator in supporting the individual needs of each Board in the area of remedial/support teaching and in developing effective school based problem solving team models . Who are we? We are the School Administrators’ Support Team (SAST), a support service to school and school board administrators in the organization of their services for their students with special needs. This service coordinates and provides professional development to administrators and their school and board teams as they address the needs of their students who are not succeeding in school. Our Goal To help every school principal and vice-principal in the English sector develop the skills and confidence needed to provide effective leadership in the organization of services to students who are not succeeding in his or her school. Fast Facts Regarding SAST ➢ Identified as a resource by the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports in her Plan of Action for Special Needs Students in May 2008, SAST is active in each of the 10 English School Boards in Quebec. ➢ We are part of the Inclusive Education Services, supervised by the Association of Directors General of English School Boards of Quebec (ADGESBQ). ➢ We can support administrators in: ➢ The development of their school success plans their plans to prevent drop-outs. ➢ The coaching of staff and management of IEPs. ➢ New approaches to learning which reach diverse learners and decrease the
