Introduction of ICT to Special Needs Students

In this section you will find links to various software, shareware, apps and OS settings that can be used to help level the playing field for some students with Special Needs.  It is important to consider the needs and abilities of each individual student when deciding  (with the student) what adaptations to implement.  Most of the software mentioned here either comes with your computer or device or is OpenSource or freeware.  There are many commercial products on the market but the goal here is to exploit what you either already have or those that have no cost.  This way the focus can be on discerning if a certain approach is helpful or effective, before spending a lot of money and then finding out that it is not useful to the student.

Also remember that if any of these adaptations are to be used by a student they must be mentioned in the students I.E.P. and should be used on a regular basis throughout the year and across subjects in order for them to also be admissible on MELS exams.
