Portfolio Collection Process | Overview
Collection is the process of teaching and learning that occurs in a classroom. This is where
students construct, build, write, set goals, etc.
Elements of portfolio come into play through establishing
| a class's definition or a portfolio, its use, and
purpose
| personalizing a portfolio to reflect the student who
owns it
| discussing and building on criteria when completing
collection tasks
| establishing goals linked to criteria, affective
learning, etc.
Collection | Practical in the Classroom
Here are some classroom tools for the collection phase of the portfolio process. It is our view that the phases of the process are permeable and iterative, so some tools are appropriate for more that one phase and some are meant to be revisited. These are tools that help students begin to gather trace evidence of their learning processes, to set goals or to organize the first elements of a portfolio. Tools can be downloaded and printed for paper use or completed in Word and uploaded into an electronic portfolio.
