Shared leadership

During the first three years of the school's journey into team building, leadership and team organization shifted. Whereas the first year the school met as a whole under the leadership of the principal, with time responsibility shifted to the teachers who took ownership of the meetings, set the agenda and dealt with decisions. The format of team work evolved because teachers found it more efficient to work in topical action teams so that the entire staff did not always need to work as a whole on a specific topic. Now, every member of the staff is part of an action team, for example the Portfolio team, who receives its mandate from the school team and reports back to it.

Perhaps the most important area of shared leadership and responsibility is centered on collective responsibility for student learning which requires the school to adjust its organization so to allow teachers to work in small teams to plan their pedagogical interventions.
