Symmes: changing practices
In 2002, the QESN-RÉCIT team visited the Symmes Junior High School in Aylmer, Québec and interviewed the staff as well as then principal, Randy Smith. The teachers shared their experiences in searching for and implementing new practices while Randy Smith talked about the conditions which has allowed them to do this.
About Symmes
Symmes Junior High School is a newly built school in the heart of Aylmer, Québec. It hosts 412 students, 22 staff members and caters to Secondary Cycle 1 students (Grades 7-8). The school is divided into groups of 2 to 3 classes which share, to a large extent, the same teachers.
