Student Information
LEARN Online Summer School 2011
This year LEARN is offering the secondary cycle 2, year 2 (secondary 4) math bridge course for students who successfully completed Cultural, Social and Technical math CST but who would like to take cycle 2, year 3 (secondary 5) Technical and Scientific math (TS) during the 2011-2012 school year.
For the 2 credit bridge course students must have obtained a passing grade in the CST course to register. Students must be recommended for this course by their school principal.
Classes are conditional on sufficient enrollment, space and teacher availability. A minimum of 12 students per course is needed to offer a course. The decision to run a course will be made on June 29 and all registered students will be informed if a class is cancelled.
Who may attend LEARN's Online Summer School Classes?
Any student currently enrolled in a Quebec secondary school may register for online summer school with LEARN.
Registration will be available online from June 1 to July 5.
When are courses held?
Summer school classes will run daily for a 4 week period from July 4 - 29. Course hours TBA.
How do I register?
Please note that enrollment will be limited to 15. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration takes place beginning in June.
Online registration - log in with your LEARN user name and password, available at your school. Your school can contact LEARN to obtain student access codes. 877-647-6060. Click on Register button above.
Where/when will I write exams?
Students will write an exam at their school/board in the August exam period. All exams must be written and supervised by the student's own school/board staff. There may be an administrative charge associated with exam registration.
If the LEARN online teacher marks the exam, the results will be transmitted to the school board by LEARN's online principal by August 8 at 3 PM.
Is there homework?
Summer school courses cover an entire year's work in a compressed period of time and students must be prepared to allocate sufficient time to work at home every day. It may not be advisable to pursue daily employment during the summer school session.
What are the registration fees?
Summer school is self-funded so students must pay $180 per course plus tax (total: $205.07) to take online summer school courses. Fees may be paid by cheque or credit card (VISA or Mastercard).
Materials for the math bridge course are available online to registered students.
How do online courses work?
LEARN will provide 1 hour training sessions to all students taking online courses for the first time. Students will access our teaching and learning platform and our portal.
What do I need to take a summer course online?
Students need to have a computer with reliable internet access (preferably high speed) and a headset (or a microphone and speakers).
