About the LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT Workshop Series
The LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT series of workshops were designed by teams of local RECIT animators and members of the LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT resource team. They were designed to:
- Create a rich professional development LEARNing Communitiesing environment for teachers
- Develop expertise within the LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT group and foster a team approach
- Create web resources available to participants as follow-up to the sessions and at the same time to other consultants
- Require a team approach - no one RECIT can take on the activity in its entirety
- Put a public face on a virtual team
- Exemplify the concept of networking within the framework of the RECIT project as Boards share their resources for the benefit of the entire community
These sessions are presented at provincial conferences such as :
- QPAT
- IDC
- Building Curriculum Links
The LEARNing Communities-RECIT team is offering each English School Board the opportunity to request one day of on-site professional development from the LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT Workshop Series once year:
Conditions
- The local Board will pay the expenses of the animators (usually 4) and provide the necessary equipment and supplies.
- The host school board will advise the LEARNing Communities-RECIT coordinator of the registration count 10 days before the event. If fewer that 10 people are registered, the event may be cancelled after discussion between the DES and the LEARNing Communities-RÉCIT representative.
- T he host board will accept up to 10% (a maximum of 3) of participants from other Boards. This permits individuals from distant boards to participate in sessions and the opportunity to train people who have missed a local session.
- The local RÉCIT will be part of the presentation team.
- The Board must have a plan and the funds to pursue the professional development requested by either widening the circle of participants (multiplier model) or deepening the expertise of the participants with follow-up sessions at the school level by the local RÉCIT or a collaborating consultant.
- The offer is dependent on the availability of a core of team members.
