Regional Employers Present Employment Opportunities at Gaspesian Youth Day
Over 200 students participated in Gaspesian Youth Day held at the Centre Culturel in Paspébiac on October 18, 2017.
Organized by the New Carlisle Community Learning Centre and CASA, students from throughout the region were able to visit over 40 kiosks that presented a wide array of careers in areas such as journalism, law, zoo therapy, guidance counsellor, fisheries, public security and more. Gaspesian businesses were also present to inform the students of many local career opportunities. There were also CEGEPS , collages, and vocational training programs promoting their services and programs during the day.
"It was a great opportunity for the students of our region to connect with each other. The sense of pride they have in our region was evident in the level of interest they expressed during the event.” - Shannon Marsh, CASA
Johnathan McKenzie & friends provided the musical entertainment for the day and two motivational workshops were given by Dave Felker of CEDEC and Suzanne Briand, Director of the Douglastown Community Centre. The day closed with an impromptu high-energy dance-off organized by the students.
“I was blown away by the energy in the room. Watching the students and presenters interact with each other is proof that this needs to be an annual event. This career day was an absolute success!” Tammy Chatterton, CDA
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the partners involved in the Gaspesian Youth Day- Cedec, Eastern Shores School Board, and Complice.
This event would not have been possible without the support of the Municipality of New Carlisle, Desjardians and BMR Paspebiac.
