Our organization has had a wonderfully rewarding experience with the CLCs! We are a grassroots volunteer-based literacy council, serving the community for over 35 years. At the very beginning of the establishment of the first CLC at Saint Lambert elementary school, we found the perfect partner for our family literacy program. Our Mother Goose program moved from the basement of a nearby church, to the resource centre at the elementary school. We were welcomed with open arms. The partnership led to an extraordinary growth for the Mother Goose program, from one 10-week session per year serving about 20 families, we now have 12 10-week sessions, serving over 300 families at 4 CLC locations throughout the South Shore area. We developed a Youth and Peer tutoring program, a Parent Homework support program, a Reading out Loud library program, as well as hosting author visits through the TD Children's Book Week, a benefit concert by a Grammy award winning children’s singer, and many many other mutually beneficial activities. We could never have expanded our literacy programs into the community to this extent without the support of the CLC network. May this great partnership grow and flourish in the years to come!
