Welcoming New Leaders to the Community Learning Centre Initiative

The Provincial Resource Team was delighted to welcome and orient new Community Development Agents (CDAs) to the Community Learning Centre (CLC) Initiative on October 16th and 17th at the LEARN offices in Laval.

Over the course of the two days, CDAs had an opportunity to learn about the history of the initiative, the five-step framework for CLC development, take part in a school-community mapping exercise, exchange with some of the many leaders from across the CLC network and much more!

Throughout the orientation session, Community Development Agents showed great interest and commitment to enhancing the lives of students, their families and local communities at large.

"The knowledge you shared equaled the kindness in which you taught me.  I know now that not only I am part of a larger team, but that this team is all working toward a greater goal...and that this team has the same goals that I have as a person. To show people (in our case, specifically the Anglophones of all ages) that someone cares. I plan to do that through my work."

New CDAs will have the opportunity to stay connected throughout the school year thanks to a series of virtual exchanges hosted by the Provincial Resource Team.

“Thank you PRT for the great orientation.  I am much clearer on my role as CDA and have so many tools and a great network to seek for help.”

Carly Woods, CDA, Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School CLC

One of the key functions of the Provincial Resource Team is to offer training and support to Community Development Agents leading the CLC Initiative across the province, particularly as they first come aboard.
